Homare Shuzo Brewery

Kosaku Karahashi, who was a rice wholesaler and then a manufacturer of miso and malted rice
In 1918, the brewery was transferred to the present location in Atsuyo-Kano-cho, Kitakata City, where the company was founded as Kanoh Shuzo Co.
Later, due to business expansion, the brewery was moved to its current location in Matsuyama-cho, Kitakata City and changed its name to Karahashi Sake Brewery and Homare Sake Brewing Company, and grew to become one of the leading breweries in the Tohoku region with its stable quality and continuous technical improvement.
The company's flagship brand, "Aizu Homare," was named "Aizu" in hiragana to make the name of Aizu sake known throughout Japan.
It was very unusual to use hiragana for a brand of sake at the time.
The calligraphy of "Aizu Homare" was written by a modern calligrapher born in Nagano Prefecture, Mr. Tenrai Hidai.
